Our Corporate Volunteering programs are a great way for your group or team to make a meaningful contribution and have some fun with colleagues! It is a really rewarding experience that creates a valuable team building opportunity and allows groups to meet their corporate social responsibility goals.
We have a number of corporate and community volunteering programs on offer:
A home cooked meal is often taken for granted and it’s for that reason we invite Corporate and Community Groups to participate in our Meals from the Heart Dinner program. After a long day by their child’s hospital bed, cooking a meal may be the last thing on a parent’s mind. By simply preparing a homemade dinner for our families, you can ease the burden of a difficult journey.
For a successful Meals from the Heart dinner program – your team will need a maximum of 6 volunteers. For this program your team will be on site from approx. 4pm to 7:30pm. We always have a full house, so we ask your group to cater for approximately 50 people.
Your group will choose a delicious and nutritious menu to cook for our families, plan the required ingredients needed for your menu, purchase all groceries, and then arrive on site to do the preparation and cook dinner. Dinner at our House is served at 6pm. Our Dinner Squad volunteers are also onsite to assist you with the preparations, serving and clean up afterwards! The highlight of the night is sitting down to enjoy dinner in the dining room with our families! Meals from the Heart dinner program is offered on Tuesday and Thursday nights only each week.
At various times during the year, we welcome small teams to assist us with various project tasks. This is negotiated with our staff depending on numbers in the group, timing, availability and suitable tasks/activities to suit the abilities of the members of your group.
Some possible projects include building flat pack furniture, helping us changeover mattresses, cleaning, painting, gardening or other low-level maintenance tasks.
The Help Yourself Meals Program allows a team of maximum 6 volunteers to come on site during the day to batch prepare some main meals that are suitable for stocking our freezers. This program is generally offered Mondays/Wednesdays/Fridays (subject to availability) from approx. 10am to 2pm onsite. Your group will choose some hearty and nutritious meal options to cook, provide all required grocery items/ingredients and arrive on site ready to cook! Families welcome having a varie4ty of frozen meals available that they can heat and eat – often quite late in the evenings – once they return late to the House following a long day bedside at the hospital.
As an alternative to this program, groups can come on site to bake some yummy morning or afternoon tea treats (instead of freezer main meals) if you prefer. Any items lovingly made by our corporate and community groups are always very gratefully received by our families.
