Our Impact

Every program you support helps strengthen families with children who are sick or injured, giving them more tools to cope.

A message from our CEO

This year has been a testament to the incredible resilience, generosity and dedication of our community, partners, and staff.

At RMHC SA, our mission to keep families together during a child’s illness or injury has never been more critical, as demand for our services exceeded our capacity. Once again, throughout 2023 Ronald McDonald House Adelaide operated at full capacity every night of the year. The increasing number of families across South Australia and the Northern Territory requiring access to specialist medical services in Adelaide has continued to build high demand for our support. Unfortunately, this often led a long waiting list to access our services. and some families being unable to access accommodation support entirely. This year, we implemented overflow accommodation with our hotel partner, ensuring our impact can expand past the resources of our House on Melbourne Street.

Our program, including the Ronald McDonald Learning Program, has helped children catch up on missed education, providing them with the resources and support they need to succeed academically. Stories like those of students who, despite severe health challenges, have gone on to achieve academic excellence, such as our Charlie Bell Scholarship winner, Daniel Blackman.

Our achievements this year would not have been possible without the unwavering support of our volunteers, donors, and corporate partners. Your generosity and commitment have been instrumental in allowing us to continue our vital work. We are particularly grateful for the contributions that enabled us to provide 319 nights of overflow accommodation, extending our reach and ensuring that we are #keepingfamiliesclose.

Looking ahead, we are excited about the future of RMHC SA. We remain committed to expanding our reach and enhancing our programs to better serve the needs of our community. Our vision is to ensure that every family with an ill or injured child has the support they need to stay together and strong throughout their journey.

In closing, we extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who has been part of the RMHC SA family. Together, we are making a difference in the lives of children and their families, providing hope, support, and care when they need it most.
